Hello, I’m Astrid, a journalist who walked away from the fast-paced, gruelling life of a reporter/editor of a breaking news room to work at a grocery store.

I live in British Columbia where I enjoy a slower pace of life.

I’ve been blogging since Friendster (2004) and have moved sites and changed names too many times. But at its core, Soft City Life was started after I moved back to Manila to work as a producer.

My blogs have evolved along with my mental and material state. They either disappear or become highly curated, depending on whether I want to be perceived or not.

But, whenever I think about the two people who enjoy my writing, I feel a little braver to be myself on the internet. Thank you Sandi and Jackie!
